I thought I posted this already but since I did not find it on the list of new topics, I'll try again.

Here is proof positive that even the USPS considers their own international mail delivery service to be too expensive. Or, is there a USPS branch office in Denmark? Note who sent it, the country from where it was posted and the country of reception.

Marty

Nope. It did not go through any embassy.

It was most likely a bulk mailing shipped to Denmark by USPS for foreign destinations, apparently to take advantage of international rates cheaper than their own rates. I receive lots of mail here in Guatemala that is from the USA but posted in another country. I frequently receive mail originating in the USA but posted in a different country. Senders include: IRS, Pennsylvania Dept. of Revenue, magazine subscriptions, newsletters and solicitations. They are usually posted in Sweden or Denmark, although I occasionally receive these posted in France or elsewhere.
I am not at all surprised to receive mail from most of these but the one from the USPS itself did surprise me.

I agree, it is an interesting novelty. I almost threw it away but I'm glad I kept it.

My most recent one is from the State of Pennsylvania, back stamped on March 23, 2009. It was posted in France.
