a guy I know at the gym has a friend Tommy who found a stamp collection while cleanning an attic or something..Old stamps, Hitler. Vatican etc...ok, I agreed to look at it for him...today we met..he had the cigar box (oh no !) an American album with a black cover and a scott International..there were probably 80 stamps between the two albums..the usual stuff someone started a collection and soon tired of it..the guy was ripping first day covers from the 1950s open to look for stamps and I had to tell him the cancel was what counted and not to rip them.... if I have seen one accumulation like this I have seen 2 dozen...the guy understood that it had no value !!
David and Dude, no I did not want the collection..if I took it he may have thought I was lying to him. I have enough stuff stacked in my stamp room without worthless junk !..he didnt know the first day cover from a hole in the wall so we can not blame him..i wish that stamp dealers would start a slush fund and buy these so called collections and burn them..they are just weeds..people find a cigar box with stamps and a album with pictures and they think they have found a stamp collection !!
