I will be attending a couple of stamp shows in the next few weeks and I have to be more selective in my buying.. why ? because I have my own stamps in stock books, remainder albums etc etc that have to be moved into my collection..i have to restrain myself just because something is a good buy ! I hope someone can relate !! Help me before I go out and do it again !!

been there, done that...The simplest trick is to take just "pocket money" with you to exhibitions and leave everything else (credit cards, cash etc) back home (or to wife). Without money it's very hard to buy anything big...LOL

BTW...This is my 50th post (and it took "only" 2+ months) ;)

More selective? Yeah, right, Phil. That'll last for about 5 minutes after you get in the door!

Knowing Phil, he will go biserk, whip out a wad of hundred dollar
bills and buy everything in site....I will be at the Albany show
to witness his madness, and will give you all a full report.

it is always better to be selective in your collecting.
i have learned from experience..
i do know that a bargain is never really a bargain unless you get what you desire.
i have been upset in the past for wasting money on items that I thought were a good price..and then go back an regret making the purchase.
it may be best just to take a walk around the to see what all the vendors have before making your first purchase.
this is just a suggestion...

thanks dan

Never buy anything new unless all of your previous purchases are properly mounted in your collection, scanned and entered in your philatelic database.

You can shop my want-list of Argentina Department Officials for me. That little task would keep you out of trouble for a while and their catalog value is quite low so the damage would not be serious either. Think how good helping another would make you feel.

Some of the dealers at the little show in Vermont bring 5 and 10 cent stockbooks...lots of fun to look through..would be a longshot to pull out an Argentine official that you need !!
