I had asked for some info on a cover and received some good answers, but it did not quite answer it all. I did obtain the answer and wanted to share it with you- and posted it on the Topical thread. No one looked at it. So I copied it to another forum and only one person answered and gave me credit for the research. So, the first time I showed a "Europa" connected item, I get a political reply- and now, not much. So, since you don't seem to like my topicals, I shall refrain from posting anything. Jopie, the collector of weird stuff.

Relax, Jopie. I think you might be reading too much into things.

I read both your original cover posting and the subsequent research post with interest. For various reasons, sometimes we can't always respond to every thread (for instance, I was on the road that time and I didn't respond to ANY threads, only did reading). Don't feel singled out. If you look at the "Unanswered Topics" filter and set it to even "last month", you will find quite a few threads with no response. But that doesn't mean people aren't reading them or not enjoying them.

I cannot speak for the one who posted that reply, but I had interpreted that post as being satirical in nature.

Actually, that was not the first time you showed a "Europa" connected item. Check out this earlier thread (see, we do read and participate in threads you start! you just forgot about this one!).

So please continue to post, but don't be discouraged if sometimes there's not a huge response. Not everyone has the exact same tastes in stamp collecting, but we still enjoy it all anyway!

jopie, You should not be discouraged. Not everyone will have the same interests as you. It's about the collecting and having fun and enjoying
the happiness you feel with each new stamp you come across.
Don't stop posting you will be surprised sometime what others will say
in future posts.

Like khj and warrehouse said, not everyone who enjoys a thread posts in them. I had a good laugh over the cover artist who, not knowing the coat of arms of the Netherlands, inserted a windmill.

We do a lot of what I'll call repetitious posting as we discuss the same subject over and over as time passes and we get new members. That should be expected. To me, it's the weird stuff, the odd ball question, and the mini-lessons that make the site so beneficial. There are a lot of times I learn a lot but don't post because I don't have anything constructive to say, or I'm in a quiet mood.
Please keep posting like you have been!

Hello Jopie,

I really enjoyed your posts and the information presented. Hunting down the meaning of things on covers and stamps is one of the more interesting aspects of stamp collecting for me also. Sometimes things don't mean anything until you know more about them and then you suddenly see things of that topic popping up everywhere where they hadn't before. Or you appreciate things in a way that is more satisfying somehow.

Ahem, well, I wandered off there a bit, but that is how you discover new things!

Doug, off on another adventure . . .

Jopie, I think sometimes, we tend to wait for someone else to respond and when that doesn't happen we (read I) think that it is too late to give a response. In my case, it is usually that I don't know enough to give a meaningful response.

Hang in there.

Jopie....

I never posted in your thread(s) but I've read them. I am not as well versed in the stamp subjects that interests you. But I read your post(s) because they are informative and an opportunity for me to learn.

Don't stop posting. Sooner or later most of us will have a chance to pick your brain. Stay with us.

1st problem - it should have been posted in the original thread because that's where the members that are interested would be looking and/or would get a subscription email. Trying to follow the same discussion different topics is next to impossible. There could have been dozens of people watching the original topic. Give me a link and I can tell you how many members were subscribed to it that may have totally missed the answer because you started a new topic with a vague title.

2nd problem - Your topic title was "I got the answer." A title like that will never get many views. No one knows what it's about and a lot of people scan titles to decide what interests them. I even put a background image in the posting box to emphasize the importance of topic titles.
