I am still going through stuff and found a bunch of things like these. My question is this, Is it worthwhile to keep the post marks on stamps like these? Does keeping the post marks make them "more valuable"? I know they aren't real valuable stamps but I hesitate to cut the post marks off just yet.

I am open to opinions and suggestions here.

Devlin

There is nothing wrong with collecting them in that fashion.
Collecting post marks is common, just another way to have fun!

These are very common cancellations on some very common stamps from the 70's.

The 2nd postmark from the top is interesting because it is "silent", no town or state name.

Devlin,

Many people collect postmarks. There are lots of ways to do it. Here's a link from the Postmark Collectors Club about collecting preferences.

I collect postmarks that are tied to eight cent stamps from all the cities in the State of Wisconsin. Depending on what you choose to collect, it can be challenging and inexpensive.

Stamperdude, "Silent" with a clue, "970" should be the last 3 digits on the zip
just need to reverse that number to that year.
