Yesterday, I started noticing that I had stamps, here and there and in almost every room, not to mention the various shoe boxes, filled with long ago stamps and covers that I know by heart. And I have to ask myself...??? what do you think?

It all depends how you look at the question. For the collector, there can never be too many. For the dealer, overstock could be a major problem.
I also collect coins, so there are little pockets of coins and stamps in various areas of the house, set aside where I was last working on them. I am trying to get this to a manageable point, however. |

I can relate to this question..when the stamps start taking up more space than they are worth..its too many...i look at the plastic tubs and computer paper boxes and say...cut back...but its difficult to part with them..i have boxes of envelopes of correspondence from the last 30 years ...why am I keeping them ?? I guess eventually will clip and soak the stamps... |

>S=(SP/10)-1
This is one formula I've seen.
>S = the number of stamps you own when they become too many SP = the number of stamps ever produced
I'm thinking you're not even close!

Once, there were clothes in there. I don't know here they went to And still I add to the lot ! So How many stamps are too many......there are never too many. when the stamps overflow out of your stamp books and you wonder if you have enough time to tranfer and arrange all of them |

If you have to move boxes and albums full of stamps off your bed at night before trying to go to sleep I would say you have enough. Unless of course you are still single and you have enough room left on the bed beside the boxes to be able to lay down. If so, then you don't need to stop yet. |

Suzanne, That was an easy problem for me to solve. I just got rid of the bed, and put some cushions and a blanket on top of the boxes of stamps. Although now that it's gotten so high, I will have to remove the cushions... k |
