I really like these types of stamps, but I don't know a great deal about the pricing of them. I wanted to know if this is a good deal or not? Also does anyone here have stamps like this available? I would rather buy from here than on ebay. I trust everyone here. I know the stamps would be quaility.

If you buy that stamp, the premium you are paying is for that plate number. Is that what you are looking for? Also, I want to make sure you realize that stamp is hinged.

Hi Sharksfan......

My 2010 lists this at $6.00 hinged......$17.50 NH......no list for a plate number single. It looks to me that the one in your link has a hinge re-inforcing the perfs.

If I were you I'd take my time and search of others.......I'd be willing to bet that you could find one as good or better in a fairly short time.

Does it interest you as a single, or as a PNS ?

There is really no catalog premium for plate number singles even though I'm convinced that should be one. Once again it's an example of something being worth what someone else is willing to pay. Since the seller states this is a price reduction we don't know what that value is, of course one it is found it will sell and become a lost opportunity. Oh well,.... That being said, this appear to be a nice looking copy but I'll bet better ones (at a lower price) will be along.

Yes, there is a catalog premium for plate number singles, just as there is a catalog premium for plate number blocks. Scott chooses to list the latter, but not the former. The premiums may also depend on particular plate numbers for the same stamp.

The appropriate references are Hebert's Standard Catalog of Plate Number Singles and Durland's Standard Plate Number Catalog, both of which are still in print, although they are not revised every year.

I don't think its a great deal, considering it is hinged. I only buy, for my purposes, MNH. But the perfs are nice
