This is a quiz I used to give my students on the first day of my Business Math class every semester. The first person to get the right answer will receive a package of 25 trianglular stamps, a neat U.S. cover, and 2 surprise bonus items! The quiz ends at midnight central time on Monday, 10 March if no one gets the right answer.
A young fellow goes into a convenience store to buy a couple of things. He buys a package of razor blades, shaving cream, a bottle of cheap aftershave lotion and a candy bar. The clerk rings up his total and it comes out to $13.59.
The fellow opens his wallet. He's got a buck. He says, "Oh man...oh, wait a minute. I have an emergency $50 tucked in my wallet." He takes it out. He hands the fellow the fifty-dollar bill. The cashier gives him his change, and as he does so, the cashier says," That's interesting!"
The customer says, "Geez, it is!"
So, what's so darn interesting?

The change he receives gives him the common US currency... a penny, a nickel, a dime, a quarter, a dollar bill, a five dollar bill, a ten dollar bill and a twenty dollar bill.

Well, the only two oddities were the candy bar and the change. Couldn't think of anything odd about the candy bar, so did the math. It may be easier to see on paper as opposed to hearing it.
How do I give you my e-mail address without violating the 50 post policy?
