Welcome to the site Philb!

It good to have another member a little long in the tooth. It doesn't look like you're a new collector, but the offer for new members with 10 posts still stands. For more info, go to: https://goscf.com/t/579

Hi folks, thanks for the warm welcome...one question was what does my wife collect...good question...she started collecting about 15 years ago when she attended one of my stamp club meetings and was immediately put to work tallying the auction sales...she has sped right past me in collecting..she does not buy box lots and accumulations like I do..she goes for the Good stuff and has quite a collection of Europa forerunners,Europa stamps and covers, and being Dutch she collects Windmills...she belongs to the Europa study group and the International Windmill club.i have to admit I was having a problem with logging on..it looks like there are two places to logon and I am learning slowly...phil

Philb - one of the more obscure rules of the site says that new members must post pics of their Quetzal stamps during their first week as a member. I'm hoping to see yours soon!

LASWabbie I keep thinking LA Los Angeles instead of La. the fun little state..i had a lot of fun down that way in 1958 a kid from the apple orchards of the Hudson Valley...i would be glad to share some Quetzals or covers with the board...i am technical enough to send a scan...but not to link....phil

Welcome Phil. Good to have you with us.

There can be some interesting things in those box lots and accumulations. I find searching through them a lot of the fun in collecting stamps. You must, too.

Hi again Phil

I like to purchase stamps lots as well I have found some great surprizes in some of them. I did go a little ebay crazy lately and was lucky enugh to win almost everything I bid on. I't going to be a great spring.

Hi Diane, back at you...can we speak of ebay ? back around oh 1999 I did not have a scanner..but putting things that I could sell..say in the dollar to 25 dollar range was inexpensive...compared to now...well long story short...without scanner...just by description..i sold just about everything I listed..i thought I was in heaven....of course things change...i have not attempted to sell there in years..they just keep jacking the fees..where a collector like myself would not be able to deal...i have a client I sell covers to...he pays priority postage and I send him covers that I charge an average of 35 cents for..my wife says I am too cheap..but what am I going to do with ones I do not need...imagine when I look at covers on ebay and see someone wanting 2.99 postage and handling for a cover I can send in the U.S. for 41 cents !

Yeh that's one thing that's bugs my husband about some ebay sellers they do jack up the shipping cost sometimes. I've been pretty lucky most of mine have been reasonable.

I don't think I will sell any I prefer to trade and or share my extras. My aim is to fill my albums.

Dianne I prefer trading also..if I sell anything it just goes toward things philatelic...i guess once I have 50 posts here I will be allowed into trading...most of the stamps I have in bulk of the 1970s to present I have very little use for..my worldwide collection of Scott Internationals goes to 1969...if I can help someone out with their collecting interests..it would be my pleasure !

Welcome! As others have said, good to have someone with lots of experience to fill in the various holes!

I'm also looking to trade stamps on the forum once it gets going. That is one of the nice things about stamps, covers, etc. They cost virtually nothing to send via the USPS.

See you online!
