This is for those that can relate to it...if I never purchased another stamp..which of course I will...i have enough stamps in 1)stockbooks 2)remainder albums 3)computer paper boxes 4) red 102 card boxes 5) #2 glassine boxes 6)plastic sweater boxes 7)cigar boxes..to last me a lifetime of cataloging(it takes a lot of time) and putting in my collections..as we speak I just took a break from mounting U.S. precancels...i put them on pages by denomination starting with 1/4 cent..another collection worth NOTHING except to the one who builds it...ever notice those adds to sell you a country collection ? what fun would that be owning a collection someone else built ????

Hey Philb

I can kind of relate

I may not have the hoards you have yet but if I keep it up(26 wins on ebay in the last week and a half) I will catch up in no time.

One of the wins is actually a album full of worldwide stamps I'll let you know how it is when I get it.

And by the way the worth of a collection to me is all the enjoyment and education I get out of it.

Hi Phil....

If you have any old covers I'll gladly trade some with you. Almost anything pre 1950....one collection I'm working on is "A cover from every country".....I'm still missing quite a few, and I have plenty of trading material. If you keep an eye on my discussions you'll get a good idea of what I like. The two main problems I run into is that most covers fit nicely into more than one category and I have a difficult time choosing just one for any country. Here's one of my South Africa covers, as you can see it's decent but nothing really special. Very typical of my "all countries" collection.

nr_notrare...let me see what I can find..i like covers myself..i have some postwar Italy and Germany but I do not know if they meet the pre 1950 requirements..i will get back with you on this thread..i like to trade and am beyond the worrying about catalog value..but darn it I do care about condition..i would never knowingly send some one a stamp with a short perf or damage..some others I have met do not look quite as close if you know what I mean ...cheers...phil...i will describe what I find and we can talk mailing addresses...if you say send I will send....

Phil....

I like pre 1950 material the most but it's not something I'm really strict about. I have a fair number of newer covers. I think there are others here that would appreciate the FDC's, I'm more partial to common used covers.

My "all countries" collection will eventually end up with about 300 or more covers, I expect most will be in $2-$4 range. It's not something I had planned to spend a lot on, it's just one of the fun collections I have in progress. Included in this I'm looking for things like a cover from each of Australia's states....a cover from each Of Canada's Provence's the smaller the towns the better, depending on how many countries I can incorporate like this it could drive up the total number of covers by a huge amount. Considering numbers involved I'm willing to relax a little on condition especially on some of the more obscure out-of-the-way countries. Otherwise I'll be hunting forever...I don't think I have quite that much time left. I guess you can probably tell I like a challenging long term project......I love the 'thrill of the hunt'.

If you can help, great.....if you can't, you can't...it can still be fun.

Hey Tom

I have one dated 1907 that doesn't fit in my collection. It has a bit of a water stain on it. I post a picture of it when I get home.

Keep a look out if you like it i'ts yours

Dianne

My collection consists of world stamps and a few FDC from when I was a kid in England. I don't and haven't collected FDC since coming to Australia in 1969.
