I hear you Mark. The money you sent to me is still in limbo. They don't give me a reason or response. A system can work so well, then one cock up and you can loose faith just like that.

James,
Sorry about that. If you prefer I can put something in the post. I'm just a bit shocked at the lack of warning or any other failsafe methods aside from "limiting" my account abruptly. It's sort of like a philatelic car accident or something.

I hear what you have said, but boy this sounds like a scam to get personal information.

Just came across this thread. I have had more than one email purporting to be from paypal. Don't think of opening them. Even if legit, it isn't worth the chance to touch them. If it is important, well, they can just cancel the account. I know that I will not respond to any email from supposedly paypal.

I was recently robbed of a few hundred dollars via pay-pal by some unscrupulous SOB on ebay. It was that "Anonymous" bunch that got me however the F.B.I., local & State authorities took over and I actually recovered my loss! Just beware.

To be absolutely sure one way or the other, I logged on and e/mailed PayPal today about the genuineness of their re-verification practice mentioned by some members on SCF.
I will Post any OFFICIAL response.

CIBC bank here in Canada advised me verbally that sellers requesting the 3 digit number on the back of the credit card should be given it, as any retailer that you hand your card to has immediate access to the those numbers as well. Remember, those three numbers are not actual "pin" numbers. They are a low value security method of ensuring that the person verbally giving a credit card over the telephone or web actually has physical access to the card as the front and back sets of numbers are related and, on behalf of the seller, can be verified by CIBC before the transaction is successfully processed. You must never give out you pins to anyone.

I'm just like you. I never open any email that is suppose to be from Paypal. I did the first time and I didn't believe the story and I spot some writing in Russian on the page. I use Paypal for 5 years now and never had any problems. But I wish Paypal have a serious competitor in North America that would maybe lower the fees.
Any monopole keep the rates higher than in competitive market.

They're at it again!!
Not only have paypal (pal????) reversed a payment that was made to me, without notifying me! They're also with holding money payed to me for 21 days, until I establish a "a successful selling history".
I've been with them for over a year now. Wha??????
To make matters worse, they're phone number only works in the States, which means I've left to email. And we all know how personal and direct that is.
Where's the scotch!
