laswabbie - If that warning was about credit card scams it was from me, just forwarded to you, and others, email circulating around about card frauds which was forwarded to me.

always best to keep one another informed on these things

To me..Paypal is a double edged sword..its great when paying for my wifes purchases on stampwants etc; I do small sales of a few dollars as a form of trading..since I did not have a commercial account they did not USE to charge me...since they started charging me for all transactions their fee takes a big chunk out of my transactions..its not as much FUN anymore !

I agree that the fun is reduced somewhat. They are having you pay for the privilege of them taking a percentage of the sale. All because the perception is there (in your mind, and mine) that there is less risk when using PayPal than other forms of payment. But because a lot of people who do business online think that too then a seller or buyer is somewhat forced to use PayPal to do any business.

But, on the other hand, we are lucky it's there to use.

I think common sense is something one should keep as an advisor at all times. Even if you don't listen everytime, it's nice to have the perspective from that point of view.

I guess all is right with the world again.

I'm back in the good graces of the PayPal Gestapo, I've paid all my outstanding debts and my goodies are soon to be shipped, and my bank account has not been emptied by unscrupulous stamp collectors in Nigeria.

I am at peace.

Hey! There's an idea. Let's form a new stamp society. We'll call it something like "British Nigeria and African Philatelic Society" or BNAPS for short...

Dues are only $25 and new members receive $250 Million in unused Nigerian postage.

KirkS,
I have a Moneybookers account but don't use it. I like everything about Moneybookers except one. To add funds from my US bank account, the only way to do so was by international bank transfer to a bank in Germany which is quite expensive. If I recall correctly, it was a minimum of $25. If I were to sell an item and receive payment deposited to my Moneybookers account the fees are very attractive, but I haven sold anything since opening the account.

PayPal, on the other hand allows me to add funds from my US bank account with no charges or fees of any kind.

Good Info, Quignt.

I haven't opened a moneybookers account yet -- the sign up process for all these sites is long, so I wanted to do as much research as I could first.

Thanks -- Kirk

I just got the same treatment as the swabbie did. I'm now waiting for the $1.95 charge and "4 digit secret code" to show up on my account. The excuse they gave me was that my paypal account had been used from another country. It would have been nice if they had given me notice and there would be a way I can confirm this without having to fight with my somewhat tedious electronic banking account from my bank in the desert. I'm getting more and more disillusioned with ebay and paypal. I called the number Paypal has on their site and it took me 40 minutes of chatting with a robot and punching numbers to get ahold of a live human who was basically full of "I don't knows" and "I fully understands" but had a lack of answers for anything important. I can't decide who is more useless... the Paypal helpdesk, the Radio Schlock people ("You have questions, we have shrugs!"), or the customer service people at my friendly desert bank.
