APOs generally did not exist before World War II, and during most of World War I, U.S. military mail had AEF in the CDS... (Americn Expeditionery Force).
I doubt you have a 1904 APO.

David I tried scanning it but the forum is rejecting it. Doesn't like some pdf files apparently. The photo file I tried previously was too big. The best I can do at this point is tell you that the 'football shape' cancel looks like the one in Scotts catalog under 'WWI Soldiers' Letters' as shown in fig. B. The circular part of the cancel is just a small arc without enough printing to get any further info.
