I have a 2006 U.S. Mystic Stamp Catalogue. I use it as a checklist. If anyone has a 2008 or 2010 catalogue, I'd gladly pay shipping, trade, whatever for a copy.
Thanks!
David

Good idea... I'll have to wait until I get down to the U.S. and pick one up.

Rohumpy:
I replied to your e-mail, but it was bounced back. I have just tried again with your most recent e-mail.

Just got my latest in the mail after doing an online request for the USA catalog. Came with the obligitory approvals, which for the minimum price of $10 I'll probably buy. From some points of view the catalog is worth the money. |

They do have a nice catalog for a quick reference but I really would disregard the pricing. Remember they are a retail company in it for the sales. |

Exactly, I begrudge no one from making a buck in the current economy. I've been at the top of the heap wondering why the money is falling on my head, and at the bottom wondering where our next meal would come from. I love the fact that most of the offerings come with illustrations. I haven't bought a too many catalogs over the years, seems like someone always wants to borrow it, and I always oblige, never to see it again. |

Also it is easy when on line and away from a catalog to go to Mystic's website and see the catalog on line. Helps tremendously when trying to dredge Scott numbers up from memory. |

Maybe this has been the case for months and I've just noticed it today because of this thread, but the latest Linn's has the usual large Mystic ad, this time with the largest font proclaiming
"Mystic... was 40% higher."
That struck me as funny. Turns out they were talking about purchase prices they've paid, and not sale prices they ask. |

While I would not recommend buying stamps from them, if you are looking for quick disposal (as in immediate offer/payment) of a well organized collection with decent amount of premium items and a decent value ($10K+), then I would not rule them out.
To get the best price for anything, you have to know who is interested in a particular area/item. Buy offers can vary greatly. If you consider your collection/item to be average/typical, then I would not sell to Mystic. But if you have something they are keen on, you will get a very good offer -- pay attention to their most recent ads, and it will give you an idea of what they are really interested in. Otherwise, you will only get an average to below average offer. However, they will buy everything.
I've had good experience selling to Mystic. I remember one item which they purchased from me for $1K+. They ended up paying me the same as the estimated price in an auction house listing.
As with any stamp dealer, don't expect to just toss them your prized collection without knowing the good stuff in your collection -- you won't get a good offer. |
