Howdy guys. I just wanted to let you know that bidStart (formerly StampWants) is getting ready to embark on an aggressive marketing campaign to help make more buyers aware of our service. As part of that initiative I was brought in about a month ago as the Director of Marketing. I'm still getting my feet wet with regard to all the variables but it's been going quite well. Most people seem to really like what we have to offer.
I would like to hear from any of you about any concerns or ideas you might have about bidStart.
The
ebay newsletter situation is rather a touchy one. It's our belief that
ebay has been an exceptional company. They started from nothing just over a decade ago and have turned it into a major powerhouse. However, over the last few years they have made many changes that suggest to a lot of us that they're moving in a different direction with regard to the type of service they want to be.
They've made it clear that they want to compete with the likes of
Amazon with an Amazon-like offering and that sort of approach simply doesn't fit the collectibles marketplace in our opinion and the opinion of many of the sellers I've spoken to personally since starting here. There's nothing wrong with their desire to go in that direction but that doesn't mean everyone has to follow. To me this represents a real opportunity for all of us to have a marketplace that better fits our specialized industry and that's how we're proceeding.
Again, I welcome the chance to hear from any of you on how we might improve what we're doing at bidStart. We've recently expanded our categories to emphasize all collectibles as its pretty apparent that buyers of one type of collectible are often interested in several types and this means more traffic for everyone in the end.
Thanks for listening.
