I don't think I ever shared the results of my first attempt at a live online auction.

After hours and hours and hours of waiting for my one lot to come up I was blown out of the water in literally under 5 seconds. The "suggested" bid was $300 to $400. My limit was $250 to $275 so I had placed an opening bid of $225. It went $300 - $325 - $350 - $375 faster than I could read it. The winner was a floor bidder the $375 bid and I was left wondering how I missed the bus!

In general, lots were going for at or over suggested - and some at or over Scott.

Don't try to tell me the hobby is dead. There is some serious money out there.

Josh I tried to bid on a U.S. Scott #1 (this was a very good used copy) ,my bid was at $275.00 and couldn't get a shoe in the door after that,it went for over $550.00 In reality I had no hope of getting it.
It seems that there are a lot more bidders when it's winter in the States.
regards Harry

I agree that some money is spent foolishly, but sometimes it's the foolish money that drives the market.

I'll just have to find another source for the 2000 to present Israel tabs I need.

Actually, I've found a nice ebay lot I'm interested in already. Like the man said, there will ALWAYS be another lot to bid on.

Laswabbie,

Unless you can find them under face, most issues from the last 7 years are still available from the Philatelic Service.
When I was there last summer , during a discussion with a few customers [dealers], the counter staff told me they stock most issues from the last 7 years. The regular commems come in Year packs.

Just an idea.
