As part of my Americana Series collection, I have a number of precancels, including line pairs, blocks, gaps, etc.

I have started collecting any U.S. stamp (other than those of the Americana Series, as they will go into my Americana Series collection) with a Texas precancel.

For now, I have the stamps in a stockbook, in order by city, collectively by type, in Scott order of the stamp design.

If anyone could give me some guidance on how to collect these Texas precancels, I'd appreciate it.

David

I thought I had gone overboard by collecting my precans by Scott type/number and have organized them as such on self-made album pages. I have since found that I am not that far astray of the 'pack' by taking that approach.

I think you have a good grasp on how to organize your ever expanding Texas collection.

I organized mine first by state in alphabetical, then city in alphabetical order, then bureaus by Scott # and lastly, locals by Scott #.

Thank-you for the offer, Warrehouse; but I have the Americana Series specialised catalogue, that lists all the Buresu precancels.

There is a listing, but not a list of non-Bureaus for the Americana series.
I could create a list as I did for stamperdude & his Route 66 effort.

Thanks, Warrehouse... don't kill yourself doing it.

Can you explain to me what a "Silent Precancel" is?

Mike doesn't seem to be online right now, so I'll take the liberty of posting the link of his thread that introduces Silent Precancels.

He has a couple of others, but this is the one that covers the fundamentals. His thread is the one I first heard/learned about silent precancels. Thanks, Mike!

David, if you mean Town and Type when you say Non Bureau precancels, there is a catalog with a huge number of listings. It comes as hard copy and also as software for Windows.

I bought the Bureau software a two years ago and it is very thorough with its listings. It is an enormous useful precancel reference work. Check the following link and when there click on "Literature" at the top of the page, then scroll down looking for Town and Type software
