The day we celebrate our hobby.
I'll kick it off with some Holy stamps.

SPIFS=(S)tamps (P)erforated with (I)nitals of (F)irms or (S)ocieties
PERFIN=(PER)forated (IN)itials

GB National Stamp Day (NSD 1975)
cancelled Cardiff
I am wondering if the punctures in the selvage are from a tractor feed for the perforator?

They are stitch marks from a privately produced booklet.
The Stamp Collecting Promotion Council of Great Britain [now defunct], hastily produced booklets for giving away to visitors to the Festval of Stamps '75 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
The crudely cut product includes basic information, including some very interesting text about the Penny Black, as well as the 4 perfinned 'Historic buildings' stamps.
The booklets were stitched with white thread but they ran out towards the end of the job and changed to Black. Booklets with the black stitching are scarce.
Later, I will find them and scan them for you to ogle.

Londonbus1.....now you've reminded me of stamp shows again !

I took an extra breakfast break to sit and rest !

Here are the Booklets.
Front side of the Black
Reverse side for the white, showing Logo of the SCPC.

If anyone comes across an unwanted White-stitched booklet, then I am interested. Mine is not a good copy [cover] and I would like a better one. Then I can open this one and display the pages

I will look for one at the Festival in May.

Londonbus1....oh no ! Another show reminder !!

I don't think there is a National Stamp Day in the UK anymore, but I stand to be corrected.

Here in Israel there is a National Stamp Day each year and more often than not, it is inscribed on one of the recent issues, usually on the Tab or margins of a miniature sheet.

I would be interested to know which countries still have a National Stamp Day, with or without appropriate stamps or souvenirs.

Here is a 2005 Post Boxes set for Philately Day [National Stamp Day].
Click on the pic and you'll see the inscription on the Tab better.

Londonbus1.....don't you just love Post Boxes on stamps !??

I feel it a real shame that Israel fails to print bi lingual on their stamps,
rather than on the tab.
We would like to learn more about your country, but it can be difficult
without a catalogue.

Thanks for those booklets LondonBus,
I had a respose from Douglas Myall sometime ago, and he
suggested British National Stamp Day is only celebrated spasmodically.
