Great info nic. I hadn't considered printer capability, so I must look into that now.

I assume you don't use "ordinary" plastic binders? I know some of them can leech chemicals

Jubilee-

Two questions if you have a minute...

Can you customize these pages?

Do they have varieties? I'm thinking of the various green/emerald/olive 1 shilling varieties, among others...

Thanks for your time.

Colin, sadly no, it's a simplifiwd listing. That's fine for most countries, but won't do for GB or Australia etc.

Jubilee-

Thanks for that information. I need to be able to customize.

Are you collecting KGV era (whether George is on them or not) or stamps depicting KGV, specifically?

jubilee, I'm also looking into printing my own album pages (designing my own, which I'm currently in the process of.)

In Australia I've been recommended this paper by some others who use it:
http://www.archivalsurvival.com.au

The paper is called "Perpetuum Wove." The catalogue is a pdf under the products tab. Page 20.

It comes in different sizes and weights. 120gsm seems to be the one used for album pages. It's a bone or light cream colour, as it contains no optical brighteners. It's acid and lignin free and alkaline buffered.

I think that I have mentioned that a purchased an album form Harris "THE STAMPS OF WORLD II", well it had 110lb ivory colored card stock for pages. From one volume I now have six and I wish I had changed the paper from the start, since I'm printing my own pages. The paper is 8 1/2 X11 for a regular three hole binder.

Hi jubilee, just got back! this year is really good and busy

yes, customizing your stamp page is limited only by one's imagination.

Here's a suggestion (which I do), you might also like to do:

Scan your favorite stamp, in 400 resolution and print large pic of stamp, about 500% to 700%, on the 100gsm page paper (this time its white 100gsm paper) as close to photo quality as possible. Make it off center by 1.5 inches.

then beside that large pic, glue your favorite stamp beside it.

You'll be surpeised at the visual impact it carries

You can see the printed and the original stamp.

You can even add your comments on the spave below !

Yes, I use ordinary plastic binders. By experience, chemical leaching from plastic happens only about 5 to 10 years. That's a lot of time to change the plastic sleeves! My binders are now 15 years old and their still ok!

The plastic sleeves, befor chemical leaching, first becomes either stiff or darkens, or becomes opaque, that gives you lots of time to change it.

Actually, to better experience Jubilee's creation, I think he should send each of us one page of stamps mounted on a custom album page...

Anyone agree?
