I recently made a small purchase on delcampe. I thought I had paid using paypal. I then received an email from the seller saying that he did not now accept paypal and requesting that I send cash.

The amount is small, under 5 dollars. Should I send the cash. The seller is located in Europe.

Thanks, Ron

I'd get my PayPal back first. Then, if it was an honest misunderstanding, yes, I'd risk the $5.

If it were $50, different story...

I am having a terrific problem contacting delcampe. Anyone know why e mail to addresses they have provided is returned marked unsolicited bulk e mail?

Why are you contacting Delcampe for a Paypal refund? Surely you can request it directly from Paypal?

Besides, if the terms of sale were Paypal when you bought the item, stand on your rights and demand he accept payment via that method. A contract of sale exists.

Also, to be a pedant, your thread title of "more problems with delcampe" should be changed. You're having a problem with a seller, not Delcampe. When the bots sweep this site and load pages on the web, Delcampe will get negative publicity for something that isn't their fault. Perhaps "Problem with an online seller" would be more accurate?

I am more than happy to change the title of the thread. Is it possible to do this?

If you read the second post above, you will see that indeed there is a problem involving delcampe.

If you scroll across from the Date and time of post, you will come to the paper and pencil. Click on this and edit the title.
Good idea I'd say given that the problem is with the seller.

Not sure why emails would be returned from Delcampe. Never had probs before.

Just an update. I placed a 5 dollar bill in an envelope and sent it off to Estonia. The postal worker in my very small post office was astonished that anyone would be mailing something to Estonia.

Was your PayPal refunded or were you actually charged through PayPal in the first place; did the transaction go through?

I have sent small amounts of money to the Czech Republic, no problem.

Puzzler, The pappal transaction was stopped in midsteam. The indication on my account was that is was pending. Sionce the seller never accepted the paypal, no funds were withdrawn from my paypal account. At least I think I am correct. The whole thing was very confusing.

THe seller e mailed several times and was very helpful.

If it still shows pending I would contact the seller and ask him to make sure that he refunds the amount. It should say refunded or something definite. If he can that is? It sounds confusing to me too!

Spock, if I ever get a $500 bill I will invite you over for a viewing! By the way, does 1k stand for 1 kilobyte (1024 bits) or 1000? And does Canada have a $500 bill? I have seen a hundred dollar one.

The transaction was finally completed. I sent US currency--not much, just 5 dollars. If the amount had been larger, I don't know how I would have handled it.

My purchases using Delcampe, since then have been minimal. I am sorry to tell you that contacting the team was of little help.

We haven't had a $500 bill since 1935 - Sir John A. MacDonald on the front, a fertility allegory (!) on the back. $1000 bills were current until 2000, when those were withdrawn.
