I am new at this so forgive me if I am jumping the gun. I requested the above avatar and nothing happened. I am now wondering whether inadvertently I have transgressed and broken some rule. I assure the powers that be that the image is not an advert and it is neither religious nor political. It is simply the telephone number of a fictitious tango club in the Buenos Aires of the 1920s.

Tony,

Give the admins a couple of days. Unlike us, they actually have a life beyond stamps.

Well, here is a 2001 Argentina/Japan joint issue and a Carlos Gardel from '85 for a start.

I would say the leggy dancer is more along the lines of what I was thinking, as opposed to the leggy guitarist...

Not sure I understand the point of the joint issue, but it is visually striking, in its own way.

Thanks.

C.

To cjd: Want to start a big fight in a Brazilian nightclub? Just ask the band or the DJ to play a tango. Personal experience!

The Argentina-Japan joint issue came out as a commem of the Phila Nippon 2001 at the same time that Argentina was celebrating the "Tango in Art Year".
