It seems strange to me to hear people say they are bored ! I am never bored...it could be the fact that I am rarely more than 40 feet away from a stash of old stamps and envelopes...i guess it does not take much to keep me occupied..if I can not think of another thing to do..i pick up a catalog and a bunch of stamps

Philatelists OTOH suffer from Sort Anxiety. They spend days and days staring at that great monumental and ever-growing heap - wondering just when and how they are going to tackle it. And how they are going to explain to their Significant Other that they need a larger house for the (sacred and revered) collection. And how in the interim, until that happens, one of the children will have to leave so they can take over their room. And how if that cat ever, ever comes in here again it will be Chinese food. And how we wish the world's stamp issuing agencies would issue an issue moratorium for one year so that they could use up surplus stock while giving us a chance to catch up.
No. We're not bored. We have too much to worry about to be bored. |

I'm with Phil. New issues are the major drawbacks to my achieving a respectable topical collection. Of course, what I consider"respectable" is my own fault. Most people looking at a well-organized and presented topical collection have no idea how many there should/could be appropriately included. |

They say stamp collecting is an aging hobby - well that is because stamp collectors never get bored and live longer.
Oh, and all Canadians know the Moonbird. |

Or: The clock went 'Tick', The clock went 'Tock', No more hours, For Bus or Spock, So fit your hobbies, In the day, Or work less hours, And earn less pay, But then you'd have, For stamps, less cash, You'd need to be, A lot less rash, And save some money, Get it stored, Without your stamps, You'll be dead bored !! Londonbus1.....or not. |

Bored is not an option. I can always find a ton of things to do with stamps--in fact, echoing the above thoughts--there is just not enough time to get it all done.
The irony of it all is that even with a lot of unfinished business, I take on more and then it too becomes unfinished. |
