OK rod, why would Melbourne postmen wear pith helmets? Is that area that dangerous?

That's a very good question Ray,
I had not even considered that.
I have no idea, perhaps just a "uniform" look, that engenders respect
as would the policeman, but I really don't know.

Maybe I'm missing the joke, but...

isn't the pith helmet part of the summer uniform in order to provide cooling and protection from the sun?

More camels from Sudan...

What do you suppose that third camel is looking at? I don't know why, but it strikes me as funny that the artist would choose to render that little detail.

CD, that camel stamp is amazing! The engraving must have been based on a photograph, unless the engraver had a weird imagination!
