I am considering the purchase of a pair of Scott 459. This is the rotary press imperf horizontal coil. It has a certificate.

The seller has it listed as a buy it now for $499.95 or make offer.

My question is what would be a reasonable offer which not insult the seller or be a waste of time. The situation is such that if the offer is accepted, I am committed to buying the item.

Hi Ron.....

It would depend on how badly you want the stamp.....what condition it's in......any flaws ?....is it well centered ?

What is the seller's return policy & feedback rating ?

seller 100% rating. Stamps reasonably centered, but toward the top. "OG previously hinged, sound" from certificate by William Weiss

Ron.....

I'd want a look at the back.....what sort of gum damage was done by the hinge ?....with any luck it was hinged by one of the older types that were actually peelable.

Definitely ask for detailed scans of the front and back and make sure there is a "no questions asked" return policy in case reality doesn't match up with the scans. If the feedback is in the 98-99% range (no seller will make every buyer happy no matter how hard they try) check out the negative comments. Then make your offer depending on how bad you have the fever!

Thanks guys. Now for the decision! Oh, do you think 400 is a decent offer, if I decide to go for it?

I recall a flyer from Mystic for a single at $1000. Whew. No thanks on that one.
