It's probably obvious, but looks like any other one to me?

I can not tell what color was omitted either. It looks just like the one I have in my album and what is shown in a catalog.

I think I need to have a talk with Bill. He's confused that is really the new USPS Marvel Comics series "Invisible Man" stamp.

How would the seller even know that the blank stamp is a C63? Unless it is an albino stamp where the printing press made an impression on the paper but left no ink for both colors. If that did happen, is it truly a color omitted error? Or is it something else?

The stamp was printed with the Giori Press, so yes Marty, you are correct, there would be a very slight "albino" impression. The albino impression won't show up in the scan, but might show up using a camera to take the pic at the correct angle and lighting. I think Bill is relying on his reputation, rather than the scan. He's very well known, and there is no reason to doubt his listing.

The albino impression that should be "orange" is more readily seen. But you should be able to see 4 rectangular impressions that correspond to the 3 orange sections and 1 black section, if you had the stamp in hand.

When found, these type of errors are usually found on stamped envelopes, not stamps.

This precancel was recently posted on ebay. As the seller says, it could be bleaching or something that has removed the colour from the original print, but that wouldn't explain why the precancel ink looks untouched. You can see the three-dimensional structure to the print of the precancel bars.

Ryan, The stamp does look rather spectacular. Bleaching of course can fade some types of inks and not others.

Just what I thought Stamperdude. A prime example of how NOT to describe items on ebay (or any auction). A proper description would spark better understanding and interest.

Thanks, Kim for confirming what I suspected. The seller is well known and I have even purchased a few items from him, items that were accurately and well described. But I have to wonder if he has a new employee who is not well versed on how to accurately describe items. I am quite positive that only about 2 months ago the seller described a stamp as "fresh" and a few other attention catching phrases. The stamp, which was a classic era US, was no more than a space filler but the opening price was comparable to a fresh, sound VF stamp.
In the case of this C63, IMHO it would been better if the stamp description would have included "albino".
