If anyone knows of any issues from their country or from any other country, connected to the London 2010 Festival of Stamps, I would be most grateful for a 'Heads up'.

Because....

I have been thinking for some time to start a new collection which is connected in some way to what I already have in my albums and yet something that would hold the interest for a time to come. But also something that would not be a burden on the budget or on the mind and soul.
In short, a fun collection with the possibility for expansion or not.
I have recently been doing some research on what is available for the Festival of Stamps, 2010 in London and the UK. I do not just mean stamps, though that is a good starting point.
I mean also memorabilia,Postcards,Programmes,Tickets, Magazines...anything.
But it will be connected to the Festival of Stamps,2010 either by Logo, design or text.

So this will be my new collecting interest from next week May 4th.

Here are a couple of items I will be on the hunt for:

The Slogan Cancellation to be used in London between Mid-April and the end of May.

A postcard, one of a set of 4, inserted free into the February edition of Stamp and Coin Mart, a British magazine. A limited edition of 5000.

Here is one item I have already !
Another postcard from the same set, issued free with the Stampex 2009 show programme.

So what do you think of my crazy idea ??
At the very least it will keep me full busy during the 6 days at the Festival !

I will be purchasing two nice albums to store the items in and they will be a special reminder of what I hope will be a special week.
I will add photos and copies of text taken from the threads here at SCF and other places where my written excesses have been suffered, making it an album to remember !

I hope.

So if anyone knows of any stamps from elsewhere, please let me know.
Thanks.

Londonbus1....wish me luck !

Good timing London2010, I mean Londonbus.
I just received my Stamp Bulletin today and this was in it..

Great railway journeys minisheet
Queen Stamp show minisheet
Powered flight minisheet
Colony Heritage - Empire Minisheet

These come in a special stamp pack with all sheets overprinted with London 2010 logo. AUD$13.20 + AUD$9 postage for overseas.
I don't know if these will be available at the post office or if they are special order only. They are due for release in May. If you want a set, let me know and I will try the post office first.

Steve

londonbus1,
When are the dates of the Festival? Are there going to be other countries present? If so, you could see if any of those countries are issuing a stamp during the event.

Thanks Triggersmob !
Looks like a very nice item to have in the collection.
Australia Post have a stand so will look out for it there. If I cannot find it, I will come calling !
Many thanks for the offer.
What great folk we have at SCF !!

Stamperdude....yes, I will certainly look out for items on the Postal Administration stands. I have not been able to find out who is issuing though, apart from Israel and now, Australia.
But there will be plenty to look out for in the way of Freebies too.

Nic...Thanks, will surely post some pics to bore you silly !

Londonbus1...should I start packing ?

Triggersmob The stamp package you have high lighted from Aust post is very tempting to me even though I have said I will do no more buying from them. Nothing to honor King George the Fifth in this package to me is insulting and has turned me off the product or maybe I have missed something.

Londonbus1 I am very impressed by such a noble collecting idea as you have presented here and I wish you all the best. It will be a treasure of a collection. KGV
