France, Latvia, Austria have some nice ones now that are similar to Canada in that your picture is on the stamp itself and not on the label or tab as on the older French types or the Australian, GB, Japanese, Indian, Polish or Chinese types.
ebay search for personalized in English and personnalise in French.
Some folks call the Canada ones Greetings stamps as that is what theyw ere called at first. GB called theirs Smilers or Greetings also.
The USA has Photo stamps (stamps.com I think) or Zazzle (dot com) (nice these, come in different sizes, the larger the better I think) or Endicia (dot com). Of the three I like the Zazzle the best and I think it costs the most too, sorry.
Searching for these US ones can be under personalized or personal or photo stamps or computer stamps because of the bar codes you mentioned on them.
Right now I have mostly (and collect) Canada personalized but have a smattering of others.
Canada is called Picture Postage
www.picturepostage.ca or through
www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/per...ts/index.jsf">Canada Post (dot ca).
I mention searching so you could get an idea of what you can do with them. Close ups work better that far away shots.
All of these are similar to Canada ones (I think) in that they cost a bit more that a regular stamp. Although I have not bought any from any country except Canada (as of yet) I would think this to be true as these are a (very) short production run and thus the printing costs increase.
As for size the Zazzle ones are big and I think the Austrian types are pretty big although I do not have one to compare. Latvia (Estonia too?) ones seem to follow the Austrian design somewhat.
Other countries do have them too, Belgium and the Netherlands I think.
Bee See has a good site on the Canada ones
