Yes, it seems dumping on the Post Office, and its services
has a long history.

Threadneedle Street London, is famous,

Thread- needle Street is a corruption of " Three-Needle- Street,"
so called from the arms of the Needle Makers' Company.

Also, from the Free Dictionary (Farlex).
Threadneedle Street
Street in the City of London, England, running eastwards
from the Bank of England. The name of the street probably
indicates that the property once belonged to the
Needlemakers' Company (The Worshipful Company of
Needlemakers). The dramatist Richard Sheridan
gave the Bank of England the nickname 'the Old Lady of
Threadneedle Street'.

It is more famous to us because the Post Office Branch was close
to the London Stock Exchange, and had a premium busines postion,
you know what they say in Real Estate..."Location, Location, Location"

Map of London Threadneedle Street the following year:

KE7 from my collection. indicating SE B.O. (Branch Office)
I think the main P.O. was Lombard Street.

Nice there Rod, to know complaints are not new. I have to admit, I am lucky, because the two Canada Post Offices in my area, the employees are so friendly and helpful to me it is a great pleasure to walk in on the day of a new issue. When I send mail to collectors, if it is not busy, they even let me apply the cancels.

I am with you BeeSee, my postmaster/mistress are
from The Philippines, (just a guess, I havn't asked)
Whenever I walk in and they have mail for me, they wave "Rodney, Rodney"
Very friendly people, very exacting in what they do, a modern
post office is very complex in its array of duties.
