Hi, would this be considered a fancy cancel? It is postmarked 1902.Thanks for any help.Are this type collectible or just the ones with stamps?

I don't much about US postal stationary or post marks but all I can say is -- everything is collectible ! :)

That is not a fance cancel. They were usually made of cork. What you have there is a common duplex cancel. It's a nice strike. I collect those on U.S. air mail stamps.

More importantly, it seems a lot of the material is originating
from the same person / source.
This really should be kept together and research done into
the people concerned, every cover / card you sell / trade etc,
maybe breaking an important link.

I bought this collection of items from the family.They picked through what they wanted before the sale and I even told them they could go through again after the sale.They dont seem interested in the items.I am keeping the civil war letters together for my collection.Most of the items were from where the family had a general merchandise store and letters and advertisments were mailed to them.Thanks for the replies.

Advertisement covers and postcards from that era can be very collectible. Our trunks sound like a treasure trove of goodies.
