Here's an interesting cancel from El Salvador I've never seen before. It says ??? Agua del Lago de Coatepeque - El Vichy Salvadoreņo. ??? Water of Lake Coatepeque - the Vichy of El Salvador. Any knowledge, gossip, ideas? Thanks in advance.
Probably a reference to draw attention and perhaps compete with the thermal baths / spa / mineral waters (containing various salts and sulfur compounds) of Vichy, France, famous for it's baths and healing waters since 1767.
Wikipedia article on Vichy, a town in Auvergne, France: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vichy . . . scroll down to History / Thermal Baths.
The cancel says: "TOME AGUA DEL LAGO DE COATEPEQUE EL VICHY SALVADOREŅO" translated says: "DRINK (or TAKE) WATER OF LAKE COATEPEQUE THE SALVADORAN VICHY"
I can find no information of bottled mineral water from the lake or nearby springs for drinking so "TOME" in this case, probably refers to taking a mineral water bath. Since "VICHY" is not a Spanish word it most likely refers to the town of Vichy, France which is famous for its mineral water baths.
