I dont have a book on stamps yet so I dont know the catalog number on this one.It was on a 1860's confederate stamp era letter.Who is this on the stamp? I have no idea on any value if any but most likely it will be sold.It is in as found condition.I it were on the whole cover id be interested in keeping it for my new collection.After some online sarching I did find out this is Jefferson Davis on the stamp.

That looks to be Jefferson Davis on CSA #10 or #11 (same image, different dies)blue in color. I have none in my collection to reference. #10 has a catalog value around $700.00 and #11 is around $8.00. This is from my 1995 Harris catalog that I keep at work.

The stamp appears to be #12e with a value of $45 used in the 2009 Scott catalog.

#10 should have frame lines (note the wide margins in the picture) and a very coarse cross-hatching for the background of the oval.

#11 has no frame lines and a much finer cross-hatching.

#12 has an additional "outline" at each of the corners. Hard to tell with your picture resolution, but it does look like the outline is there. Stamp appears green, hence #12e.
