The Republic of San Marino celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes with the issue April 8 of a philatelic series made up of three values.

The € 0,36 stamp depicts Bernadette's portrait, taken from a photograph of the time, and the first miracle which took place on the 1st March, 1858: a woman who had immersed her dislocated arm in the spring, prodigiously reacquired full mobility.

The € 0,60 value portrays the procession of the faithful towards the grotto and the Basilica of Lourdes which stands out against a starry sky, whilst the € 2,00 stamp recalls the apparitions of the Madonna to Bernadette.
