I believe to bid on bulk lots of stamps we need to have a formula just as we need to have a formula when we bid on single stamps. To lessen the risk with buying bulk lots of stamps I always put in bids that cover the worst out come and that is to have to resell at auction with the lot properly described. Yes I miss out on many lots that I bid on. The more information that I can get on the lot that is on offer, the more money I can put at risk! If a kg of Aust KGVs is on offer I bid 5c per stamp with a bid of $750. If I bid on Aust Dec off paper it must be 10kgs plus to start with, as a buy of stamps under this amount can be the rejects of a 10kg plus lot, and bid $20-25 per kg. Every bulk lot I bid on I reduce to stamps off paper so I can work with my formula. This approach has been very good to me over the years. To get bulk lots to work for me they must be cheap enough to resell at auction and make a profit. I just try and keep it simple! Sometimes we get caught out and put in big bids on big lots, when it should be small bids on big lots. Anyway that is my 5c worth!
