G'day all,

I was preparing to go out to the Post Office to pick up the new issue of Australian Antarctic Territory when I found a letter from Australia Post in my mail box.

It advised of change of issue dates of various stamp issues due to rate changes coming into force from June 28th .

The attached image is from the stamp bulletin and presumably the stamps had already been printed if the images were available.

This begs some questions....

If they are already printed, will they be destroyed?

If so, are there likely to be any 'leaks' of copies?

However, considering the way Australia Post handles philatelic sales these days, would it be cynical of me to suggest that they may even auction off some of the original rate value copies?

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers
Ron.

In Canada, we had a similar occurence on a set of Christmas stamps. Canada Post printed the anticipated rate-increase values, then Parliament chose not to approve the increase. Several sheets "somehow" got onto the market. Though I am not generally in the conspiracy-theory camp on such things, I'd love to hear the real story some day. It's amazing how almost every dealer maintains the pricing levels.

All of that said, yes, I bought one single of each. It's an addiction, after all...

Peter

I now wonder if the 2010 Renniks Stamps of Australia catalogue that I believe is in print now or already finished. It will only go to 2010 June 30th and will possibly have a strange out of date record of the stamps concerned. It will be interesting and possibly a collectors item in itself!

Not cynical at all Penguins.
A fact of Philatelic life.
How do you think so many millions of so-called 'Errors' flood the market each year from all over the world.

No, not cynical at all, I'm sad to say.

Londonbus1.....Now I'm angry again, off for a beer !
