a very popular topic with stamp collectors is the theme stamps on stamps..you can easily build a collection of many pages of these once you start looking for them !

My personal favorites are the German 667-8, B309 set - but at $120 or so for a used set I don't get to have but one each!

Notrare - I've seen exhibits with stamps on stamps and they are always interesting. They would make a great topical mini-collection.

I have got one depicting the Penny Black, but I don't like to look at it much---always reminds me of the biggest hole in my collection

There's nothing wrong with having holes in your collection when they're that big! Mine is Germany 4b - $45,000!

I think I understand. Are these stamps with depictions of older stamps?

Kibosh, you got it..they are depictions usually of older classic stamps but not always...they could be fairly modern stamps depicting a topic also...i hope you stick around and join us...i have to say that collecting stamps is work..it can take a lot of time...so it must be a labor of love..otherwise people will not stick with it !

I have a feeling it's going to be a TON of work to figure out what I have! It's going to be worth it though. I only brought an envelope full of loose stamps on paper home to look through from my mom's. Maybe 1% of my whole collection.

It's really bringing back memories. I remember going to visit my grandparents, and my grandpa always had a handful of stamps for me.
