In coin collecting there is a OFEC collection that world coin collectors try to complete.

Is there a OFEC stamp collection too, and is there an album or list for that collection.

Thanks

Amr

Now THAT would be an interesting sideline. Every country that ever issued a postage stamp, including the dead ones. I just might try that.

A fantastic idea. The first thing would be compiling the list.

I've actually thought of making up such an album and putting my favorite stamp from each country in it. I may have to work on that this winter.

A person who wants to "complete" this type of collection should put thought into the country list at the beginning, and then start off. They may not be easy to find, but there have been a few threads here on this topic, at least two of which contained links to putative lists, and there is no agreement on how many stamp-issuing countries/colonies/authorities there are out there.

One poster was going to try for each country in a particular one-volume Harris album. That seems manageable, and complete-able, as the more-obscure stuff isn't included.

If you don't care about completeness, then you could just start, and see how far you can get. You could hit 1,000 different "countries" without too much trouble (and that is without going too far into cinderellaland).

Well I was thinking of starting a One From Every Country coin collection, but since I am getting more interested in stamps, it will be nice to make it a One From Every Country Coin and Stamp collection.

If so the country list in Krause World coin Catalog would be a great start "i think it contains around 600 countries or more".

If anyone will start such a collection will he choose the stamps to be in mint or used condition?

One of the harder ones will be New Britain. In the Scott catalog, the cheapest one is $25 (assuming you can find it), while the great majority of the remaining are in the 3-4 digit range!

I know some very advanced collectors who still do not have a stamp from New Britain.

Gibbons includes what Scott calls New Britain under New Guinea, combined with other cheaper issues. So the escape clause is what catalog you use or your own interpretation of the events at the time of issuance.

Another tough place would be Vancouver Island.

I have started such a "Every Country" collection and plan on drawing a map, giving brief historical details and showing the coolest inexpensive stamps I can find, even if the classics have faults that don't detract too much.

I recently got these Australian states on ebay, all four for less than $30 total. The faults are acceptable to me at that price. These I consider "cool" stamps. Generally stamps that Rod222 shows are cool
