Every one should ask for pics of a different letter. That should keep him busy for a while! |

I like this statement it says it all.. "Hence we place this amount here simply as a guide to show some idea of their very ambiguous value."
Very ambiguous value...

In all fairness, I got a polite answer back and he will send images of any pages. I will ask for classic Canada and provinces. |

Quote: why tug the Tiger's tail? Indeed... I cannot fathom that somebody is going to drop 4K on this item. What is more concerning perhaps are sellers peddling fakes, alters, and the like at low/bargain prices. That is what will breed resentment, anger, and mistrust, to turn off collectors from the hobby. |

Here's a thought. How do you know that the images that are sent are from that album? Donna |

I bet that by 1st stamp for each country, He means the 1st stamp illustrated on the page for each country. |

Just another thought. If you had 80% of the #1's of the world your Catalog Value 20 years ago would be FAR in excess of $250,000.00 USD. I also took a quick look at one of MY JR's. Most of the #1's aren't pictured at all. So, it must be the 1st space. |

This is like trying to turn away from a horrible train accident.
My favorite line in the listing:
"Nothing is overstated and every statement is verbatim."
To paraphrase the great poet Rumsfeld,
There are known unknowns, and unknown unknowns.
Here we may have an unknowable unknown... |

Quote: I bet that by 1st stamp for each country, He means the 1st stamp illustrated on the page for each country. I would say you are very likely correct, and your subsequent assessment makes a good point. It's probably a good time for me to point out that the Scott International Junior has the "Junior" in it for a very good reason. It was not designed to be comprehensive like the original Scott "big brown" International Albums. In fact, it was designed to have spaces for most stamps that were deemed to be "likely to be owned", according to the values/scarcity of that time. Therefore, many of the most valuable stamps (as well as many #1's, DO NOT have a spot in that album). It's not unusual for me to thumb through Scott Juniors and see the collector having to hinge a #1 off to the top/side of the page because there is no spot for it. The Scott International Junior eventually became Parts IA and IB of the current Scott International Album series. Just thought some collectors might like to know... |
