Can anyone give me the Scott # on this pretty little purple Alamo? I've been looking at it for a couple of weeks now and it's making me crazy. Thanks very much.

I've attached a picture of my 1043 (rose lilac) for comparison. Given that yours appears much darker, it is likely that you've got the 1043a (dark rose lilac) variant.

It does look darker, at least on the scan.

It would be nice if there was a set of "standards" to compare online...

Yes, But that would only help if your monitor has been color calibrated.
None are out of the box.
