We must be very popular. This is the 2nd one we've had in a week.

Hoping the letter scan is readable.

From Belgium and posted in Singapore!
I think this might be the oldest mail Scam in the book. I can't believe it's taken this long to find it's way out of West Africa.

The very sad part to all this is they must be ripping people off to go to so much trouble. The cost alone to send the letters must add up to a lot of money by itself. It is a tragic sign of the times we live in. There is always the question, can I trust this person or that person these days!

Londonbus this cover and letter are in good condition, the first one was badly treated. I will keep this one safe and Rod I am sure will be pleased about this out come!

Yes, well done John,
place it in an archival plastic pocket, and drag
it back out in 100 years time.

Back to the future,

Here is a similar scam from a fellow from the Netherlands
in 1865
(You didn't think you were the first did you )

There is a large Philippine population in Singapore, and they have been known to speak Spanish. It's quite likely that this letter may have had a Spanish version as well.

I don't think there is a Singapore connection. Except the subject of the stamp itself.

Quite a group of detectives we have for the betterment and security of all members who belong to our family forum.
Anybody that is not of a honest state of mind will be exposed, that is for sure!
There is a lot of safety in belonging to a family. A very comfortable feeling it is!

The stamp on the cover has caused a bit of confusion!
The name Singapore 2010, with Youth Olympic Games underneath, is a stand out on the Belgium stamp?
On the side of the stamp is, Belgique-Belgie 2010 Karl Meersman.
Postmark,GENT X, is attached to the stamp. I do not know a, GENT X! Interesting!
Londonbus is on track I believe!

well, looks like people haven't given up on the 911 scam yet..
I have gotten thousands of these in my email.. first time I have seen one in print..
at least you got a stamp out of the deal..

Be sure and give them all my name and address, I think it would a cheap way to increase my collection whilst making them poorer at the same time.

The stamp on the top envelope was issued by Belgium on 14th June 2010, for the Youth Olympic Games 2010 (being held in Singapore at the moment, starting yesterday, 15th August 2010).
You are lucky to get a stamped envelope. All I ever get is a string of emails promising such wealth.
