US Modern Stamps Mint and Used

Edwin,

Congratulations!

I think you're in exactly the right place for postings on your pre-1940 commemorative stamps, blocks, sheets -- the US Modern section should cover the rest.

I look forward to seeing some images of your discoveries.

Steve

I spent this morning building an addition on my personal website for the STAMP section. I also spend the better part of a few hrs learning to scan and build a multipage PDF documents. Currently just finished scanning the first of 3 albums (everything looks better in person)300 DPI seemed to work well for the PDF

anyway, I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules with posting my link to my Stamp section I'm building... however I want to show it off as I've been working on all this since last night.

http://www.cfistore.com/Stamphome.html
then click on the USA Commemorative Albums link OR picture
The album is a PDF document you'll need Adobe if you don't already.

remember its new so there are spelling errors formatting errors and only 1/3 of the links are active as I build it up.

hope you all like it!

EDIT: I decided on PDF because we can zoom in and out which is a must for stamps, I suggest clicking "FIT TO PAGE ICON"

cant wait to get the other 2 albums up, they are FULL, 1st one is not full...

We have exactly the same album. Ours has the Zeps in the 1933 date range. The only problem is, the numbers are wrong. There must have been an battle between Scott & White Ace.

E#dwin,
Nice White Ace album, however I do see tape on the ends of some of the clear mounts. I know some collectors use to do this to hold the stamps in, especially the older cyrstal mounts. I can see where the tape has already started to stain. I would remove the tape and replace the mounts asap before further damage is done to the stamps. I did see some cases of stained perfs. Tape, rubber bands, staples and paper clips are no friends of stamps collectors. - Will

I just double checked to make sure I didn't skip a page in my scanning stupor last night alias no Zeps I would have liked them!

So your saying yours is made my Scott? is it in color too?

I cant wait to get the other 2 albums on PDF they are more impressive as they are almost full, unlike the first one... wonder if I'll ever find mint to go in those pages of thge first it would be fulfilling to complete something my grand father did!

Will, good eye! Ya I noticed that last night too when I was scanning I've only had the collection for 3 days I was going to ask about this in a separate section pointing to the album,

I just double checked I was thinking it was the mounts but you are 100 % CORRECT its TAPE! little tiny strips

my grandfather was so careful with everything he secured tiny strips to each side to keep them from falling out of the crystal mounts, I guess he didn't know what it would do! it will be expensive to replace all those mounts, but I guess it has to be done to save the stamps.

at least its not that mold you all got me so scared about foxing or something like that...

It would - but I bet he'd just be proud that you're treasuring and enjoying his collection.
