Lubos, That is a really graet collection. A lot of interesting pieces and the way they are displayed is good. When looking at a stamp and thinking about it, and then moving around and looking at another stamp, sometimes they are worlds apart in age and style and shape and culture and it gives one a bit of a shock (pleasant) to realize beauty comes in many forms.
Shakes one out of one's foundations in a nice way. Maybe that was not intentional but I can see you have picked some stamps that are striking in appearance and have the similar quality of they are all good examples and good artistry work in one way or another.
Quite inspiring.
My first look I was tired and though, of here is another group of stamps. But then, with my second look and zoomimg in as best I could, I found that I spent a lot of time looking and examining and trying to figure out where some stamps were from and enjoying the differences.
It's like a coffee table book in miniature or something, but vastly more interesting.
One of the things that caught my attention was trying to imagine why you picked this one or that one. They are all nice examples of some kind of theme or another. |

Thank you guys a lot. I'm blushing now :-). I'm really glad to see that you liked it. These stamps are just examples of WW collecting. I didn't show stamps from Belize, Russia, Egypt, Algeria etc. because these are quite "boring" I would say. I know that they have some pretty stamps, but I prefer the old ones to modern ones. There are loads of satmp countries and this is let's say 2 %. Yaeh Puzzler, you're true. I'm trieing to find the best stamps to fit my collection. Sometimes it's hard, because there are so many of them, that I have to manage it with stamps I have and then find better. But this is collecting, isn't it? And that's why I love it - patience and excitement from something, what's so beautiful. |

Ohhh, that's finally question to discussion. My answer is: It depends on you if count it asa stamp country or not. I do.
I found a short article about these Off-Shore Islands, which wrote on of our memebrs. "In Great Britain are these stamps know as cinderellas or local carriage labels. The main reason of issuing these stamps is as a souvenier for tourists or are used for local service. When these are used, we can find them on the background of the envelope or in the left top corner (the right top cornenr is reserved for official stamp and adress). ...." There are many of them and here is the list (maybe it's somewhere on british websites). I. England - Birnbeck Island, Drake's Island, Gugh Island, Hilbre, Lundy, Steep Holm II. Scotland - Bernera Island, Calve Island, Canna, Carn Island, Davaar, Eynhallow, Gairsay, Grunay, Heston, In cholm, Pabay, St. Kilda, Sanda, Shuna, Soay, Staffa, Stroma, Summer Isles III. Wales - Bardsey, Caldey Island IV. Isle of Man - Calf of Man V. Channel Islands - Brechou, Crevichon, Fauconniere, Herm Island, Jethou, Lihou, Sark
They aren't officialy counted as stamp countries. On the other hand the President of our WW community doesn't want to order what is and what isn't a stamp country. So it's on everyone.
Yess, I count it as a stamp country.

I am looking for my stamps as you said - on the Internet, in stamp store (dealers) and stamps shows. But recently it's hard to find anything, so find most through our club, when we have a meeting (usually 3 times a year). |
