As the Sailor King was said to have a fairly salty turn of phrase, one wonders what he was saying to the boys. Whatever it was, Grandpapa seems more interested in something else. A pair of ankles on the shore, perhaps?

I like blocks and multiples too, and they can be picked up for a snip. The dearest one here is the NF (Nyasaland Force) block, which cost me less than $10

Now this is an improvement:

Just a point of curiosity: this value was only printed by offset-litho (both Die I and Die II), so why does it have Jubilee lines?

If you mean mine Tony, I don't know! Clearly it's a booklet pane, so was there a seperate printing for the booklets?

I don't know, Jubilee. My old Commonwealth Five Reigns says the 1, 1¼ and 2 Annas were made up into booklets - but presumably only part of the printings was. I always thought Jubilee lines were confined to typo printings, and there wasn't any need for them in offset-litho. The only explanation I can think of is that typo plates were prepared, but never used, and the offset-litho plates were prepared from them.

That's a good theory and one worth looking at. Perhaps it's one for the ISC?

I'll have to look into the files, and see if there's anything there about it.
