I can see you have class Stampgal,
An Aussie husband who like VW's, wow,
For perfection, he needs to barrack for Collingwood.......

Like some stamps, I always wanted a Microbus, but could never
afford it.

Collingwood is a football team that plays our very strange brand of football called, funnily enough, Australian Rules Football. Barracking is what we call supporting or following a football team.

Collingwood's supporters are, by and large, of a particularly bogan variety (please Google "bogan").

Like stampgal, my wife has never complained about how much I spend on my collection.

As long as the food is on the table and the bills are paid, that's the main thing <G>. There would be a problem though is stamps became the main bill lol

John Hotchner writes a short (typically one-page) monthly column for The American Stamp Dealer & Collector.

Today I received the September 2010 issue and Hotchner's topic, "Marriage & Philately" is directly related to this thread. I'm not sure; perhaps Bujutsu saw the article before me, hence his original post.

Anyway, there's a good line I want to share with you. According to Hotchner, one type of spouse is the one who hates/resents the collecting spouse. One collector told Hotchner:

"My wife promised to have my headstone made in the shape of a postage stamp, put my profile on it, and chisel "CANCELLED" across it."

I thought you would enjoy it...

...and if it was a divorced widow that was getting alimony I guess it could say "Postage Paid".

That's rich, Phil!

Maybe we can all be cremated. I understand Iceland now uses ash as in ingredient in their stamps

I don't have a spouse, but the guy who will be mine if things ever go right understands (most) of my collecting interests. He doesn't actively collect anything at the moment, but he has collections of glass insulators, railroad lanterns, locks, and AMC parts for his 3 Javelins (those are cars, folks). I've shown him parts of my ephemera collection, and he seems to like looking at them. But he'd fall asleep at anything but a train or car show...

My wife collects Japan and a couple of topical selections. She has a heck of a time finding dealers that carry it, but when she can, she picks up a few things.
