Hehe. Way to go nuggethill! Been wanting one for some time, and I suspect will continue to for even longer. Guess that is part of the fun.

I have looked at many of the White Plains sheet online and at many different prices. I have a feeling that this is one case where you get what you pay for. All the "cheapies" that I have seen have had moderate to severe condition problems.

For something of this age, I suspect that the perforations are the weak point. (pun intended) So many have had the perfs reinforced. I saw one sheet where the back showed every single row of perfs with some sort of glue to reinforce them.

A guy brought a canceled sheet to our philatelic society last week, canceled three days after issue. He was thinking that was a pretty early usage. In this particular case, I was thinking that was a relatively late usage.

In any event, its a nice little item. Looking forward to seeing yours.

Welcome to Stamp Community Forum, mdchange!

The catalog number cited by Harry is from the Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalog. There are several catalogs that cover the stamps of the world, but in the US, the Scott catalog is the primary catalog used, especially for US stamps.

It looks like you live in the US. You can check with your local library. They sometimes have the Scott catalogs in the reference section or available for circulation. It can be a little intimidating to use at first, but there is a wealth of information in it and spending the time to get to know the catalog is often very beneficial to sorting and adding to your collection!

My local stamp dealer (literally just down the street) has one of these listed in his latest mail bid. Very tempting.
