Before Aussie Annette Kellermann flaunted authority and got herself arrested in Revere Beach, Massachusetts (1907) by wearing her now-famous "one piece", women were expected to were swimming suits called pantaloons. Ms. Kellermann won in the long run, and we now view the early swimwear with more than a little humor.
This card is titled "Humor from the Family Bath in Zoppot (Danzig)". The artist's signature "Arth. Thiel" is at lower right of illustration. Card was mailed from Berlin, Germany to Columbus, Ohio. Postmark date is 28th of September, 1909.
Does anyone else have postcards depicting pantaloons, and other early swimwear?
