Yeah, this is the main problem: it's obviously possible to build a better stamp hinge, but there's no way the cost can be recouped. Fewer collectors every year, and more and more of them use mounts, not hinges, which is why hinge manufacturing has consolidated to a single manufacturer and is done as cheaply as possible. Frankly, I'm surprised they're still being made at all.
