C3A Just Sold On Ebay For Over £2k But.

Up to the last few seconds it was selling for £124, and then it sold for £2,082. And when you examine it there are little blue dots of the vignette overlapping the frame. Very convincing. And here is the but, look at the vignette's background of clouds has the wrong shading, particularly in the area of the tail. Was it purchased with this knowledge?

Umm, what? Unless something has changed in the last week or two, ebay links are most certainly allowed, if not encouraged, as the board turns them into affiliate links, and rightfully so. It's a way to pay the bills.

Bobby, I believe the swedish fishy message was regarding the unusual activity about the ebay listing that was sold and then the seller immediately re-listed. It was not directed at SCF. But thanks for the clarification about what types of ebay links are allowed or not.


theswedish, Perhaps the buyer of that stamp had second thoughts after realizing it was fake and backed out, but the seller had now reached a baseline price that at least two buyers were willing to bid so offered it again as a BIN at that price. Both the top bidders and the seller have decent feedback ratings, I wouldn't immediately jump to the conclusion that there is any shill bidding in this case. Just two foolish people with more money than knowledge.

Regarding the stamp, there are glitches in the engraving and the colors are a bit muted. I'm guessing it is a Peter Winter forgery from the 1970s/1980s, not 'pasted together' as the seller suggested.

It's clearly not genuine. Paper is wrong, and it does not appear to be engraved.

Don't think so. I get an email with all the info when someone attempts to post something not allowed, even if the post is blocked. The "fishy" post was 1 minute after he tried to post the ebay share link again.
