Last I heard there was only one inverted jenny that hasn't been accounted for and it has a guideline in the border. So yes, it's a fake.

It is a fake. In particular you can tell by the details on the front fuselage.

No. There were only 100 inverted Jennys, arguably the most famous stamps in US philately and one of the world's greats, up there with the 1c Magenta, Swedish Treskilling Yellow, and the Whole Country is Red error from China. There isn't a 101st specimen, or a 500th. Yours is a fake/forgery.

All legit ones have pencil marks on the back indicating their position.

Actually it is at least 4. Two from a block of 4 that was stolen about 50 years ago, and two that are missing and presumed destroyed.

That is correct. Also this example does not appear to be engraved. BTW, anyone who is interested in the C3a should read a book called Jenny, by George Amick. Great book.

Look familiar? A fake that could be a twin of the OP's stamp aside from the condition, perfs and centering. Likely came from the same place. It ended up being bid to $77. Crazy.

In this case, Mustafa clearly described it as a fake.

Even so, 35 bidders with top bid $77.61

"A fool and his money........."

I have an entire page of them since I can never afford the real ones

The GENUINE PLATE BLOCK is only 4 and is a bottom plate position.

The original post is possibly a Peter Winter forgery. Here is an article about him from the APS, showing a sample of his C3a in Figure 15.

They are popular space fillers, but unfortunately this one is thinned and/or stained so of little value even as a cinderella.
