Scott National Album And The 2 Cent "Broken Hat" Colombian (#231)

My Scott National Album doesn't have a space for stamp 231c, the 2 cent "Broken Hat" Columbian. It DOES have a space (on a separate page) for stamp 233a, the 4 cent Columbian stamp printed with blue ink, rather than ultramarine.
I don't plan on spending over $10,000 for stamp 233a anytime soon. So I am contemplating putting the 2 cent Broken Hat Columbian stamp on the separate error page instead. (I prefer to think of myself as "thrifty" rather than "cheap"!)
Here's my question: Does it seem odd to anyone else that Scott decided to have a page for the incredibly rare blue 4 cent Columbian, but not the more common (and affordable) 2 cent Broken Hat Columbian? I thought (perhaps mistakenly) that the Broken Hat stamp was a popular and collectible error.

Yes, the tyranny of the pre-printed album! I think there is also a space for C3a. You can collect any way you want. You might want to make a separate page for the broken hat as there are several variations as the transfer roll deteriorated. See Volume III of Lester Brookman.

I'm sure it was a marketing decision by Scott years ago to include a page for the "upside down airplane" stamp. Its fame adds a coolness factor to the album and to your collection that the 2c broken hat Columbian does not. I have that page in my Scott National album, and since there is an abundance of reprints/copies/fakes/reproductions/forgeries of that stamp (choose your favorite term), I bought a copy and mounted it in that one space on that page. No need to mark it "fake" or "copy" but I did anyway. Above it I mounted a second copy of the real stamp -- the upright version -- for comparison. It's kind of cool to pretend you're rich for a moment or two.

As for the other stamp, I've never bothered to buy my own broken hat Columbian. I suppose it's because the error is so tiny and unremarkable I even wonder why it's considered an error in the first place. If I had one, I have no idea where I'd mount it. Giving it its own blank page treats it as far more important than I think it is, but putting it in the margin of the main Columbians page makes the page look sloppy. I guess I'll never bother to own one! With a few oddities in a few of my albums, I've sometimes mounted them in a mount on the back of the previous page just so I can see it at the same time as the other stamps. I don't like to do that much, but it seems to work well.

It's not considered an error at all. It's a plate variety, which got larger over time so it has some variation as a variety. It also comes with major double and triple transfers.
