That was incomplete information. Print only or print and e-versions?

Well, let me be the first to say I'm all for that.

I've (somewhat reluctantly) been subscribing to the cheaper online edition of "Linn's" but not enjoying it anywhere near as much as I enjoyed reading the paper edition. Humans seem wired to prefer reading paper, not digitized material -- or at least I am. Reading online operates my brain differently because of the screen nonsense compared to actual pages. So I'd be happy to keep subscribing to a paper edition. Heck, if they brought back "Stamps" magazine or "MeKeel's," or almost any of the other old-style stamp publications, I'd subscribe to them, too. I suppose my main reason for being in the APS is to get its monthly journal. And to support stamp collecting.

As for the cost, my cable TV subscription that provides me 95% garbage we still seem to need even at $150 a month. That's a ridiculous $1800 a year. So why should I complain about a fraction of that for a stamp publication in which I read nearly every article?

You're welcome for the material I did report. This information can easily be found on Wayne's Substack or even the Linn's website, and although I'm not comfortable copying too much from Wayne's copyrighted work, for those unwilling to do their own homework, paraphrased:

Digital will remain and in fact will be expanded.

See, your problem is the assumption all of us care enough to bother.

As to what you mentioned you did miss some of the substance. Remember FAIR USE which includes news with comments such as so and so just reported blah blah blah.

Your problem is that you cared enough to complain about the lack of details.

Sorry, I did not complain, just stated a missing fact.

For transparency, I have been a Linn's subscriber since the 1970s and write for them occasionally, even in the current digital only form. But given the current quality of the e-versions, I do not find them worth the trouble to find the password to read them more than once every few months when I take a rather brief period of time to read them all, at least read the parts which may be of interest. Information I have shared several times and ways with the folks of the new LLC.

This is kind of funny, isn't it?

You criticize someone who posted some worthwhile information about Linn's by insisting you expect more information as though they were your servant. You didn't bother to thank them.

Then you announce you don't care enough to bother looking something up yourself -- or whatever you were trying to say. Plus something about Fair Use that seemed a bit off the subject.

And then, apparently going for the trifecta, you end with a clear description of how little you like Linn's these days -- which would make most people wonder why you felt it necessary to even get into this awkward discussion in the first place?

I'd like think most people would apologize for these things. Years ago, I dropped out of a couple of stamp clubs when this sort of thing happened to me. I decided it was much more pleasant to be a lone collector than to deal with cranky old men full of insults. At first I wanted to make a joke out of this thread, but instead I'll say if anything kills stamp collecting faster than cranky old men who treat other collectors rudely and do not know how to apologize, I can't think of what it would be.

How about partisan ideologues?

Back on topics. I saw the article by DeVies before Wayne's.

I subscribe to the digital and it is a quick read since I have little interest in new issue information. It came with the SSM subscription. My test of a good philatelic article is one I want to save for future reference. If not, it is just entertainment such as all the postal history articles. This covers many of Hotchner's articles. The AP is 90% postal history.

I would not mind them reprinting older articles that are still relevant like Meekel's and Stamps.
I am used to digital reading like with Kindle because it is formatted for the digital screen. A PDF of a print product is less convenient since you have to constantly move around and zoom.

If I recall the NYT (New York Times) archive has an image of an article but it also available in text only so easier to read.

The press release.

Linn's Stamp News Returns to Weekly Print Publication Beginning October 5
Scott Stamp LLC announces the return of America's premier philatelic newspaper during National Stamp Collecting Month

TROY, Ohio — August 2026 — Scott Stamp LLC announced today that Linn's Stamp News will return to weekly print publication beginning with the October 5, 2026, issue, marking one year since the company acquired the Linn's and Scott brands and launching a new era for the publication during National Stamp Collecting Month.

The return to print follows a hiatus that began in August 2024 and represents a significant milestone for one of philately's most recognized publications.

"Linn's has long been the newspaper of record for the stamp hobby," said Jay Bigalke, President and CEO of Scott Stamp LLC. "When we acquired the publication one year ago, our goal wasn't simply to preserve its legacy—it was to restore and strengthen it for future generations of collectors. Returning to print is an important step in fulfilling that commitment."

"One of the number one questions I've been asked constantly, like everywhere, is 'When are you bring Linn's back into print?'" Bigalke told The Virtual Stamp Club. "I think it's more meaningful for people when they get a print issue delivered to their mailbox and I think this will really make a big impact on the hobby."

"It wasn't just the collectors that were asking for it," Bigalke adds, "the advertisers were really asking for it, because they saw a drop in sales" when the newspaper went digital-only.

Since acquiring the Scott and Linn's brands in October 2025, Scott Stamp LLC has focused on rebuilding the company's publishing operations while continuing uninterrupted publication of Scott Stamp Monthly and releasing the 2027 Scott Standard Postage Stamp Catalogue, including the return of larger stamp illustrations throughout the six-volume set.

The October 5 print relaunch coincides with the beginning of National Stamp Collecting Month and reflects the company's continuing investment in serving collectors through trusted editorial coverage, hobby news, market reporting, expert columns, and worldwide new issue information.

Founding Subscriber Offer
To commemorate the return of Linn's to print, Scott Stamp LLC is introducing a special Founding Subscriber offer.

Collectors may reserve one year of weekly print delivery for $99, beginning with the October 5, 2026, issue.

The first 2,500 print subscribers will receive a numbered Commemorative Founding Subscriber Certificate, recognizing their support in helping return Linn's Stamp News to print.

Reservations may be made at Linns.com.

A Community Achievement
The return of Linn's to print has been made possible through the confidence of collectors, advertisers, dealers, auction firms, and the broader philatelic community.
"We are grateful to every reader who continued supporting our publications and to every advertiser who believed in this vision," Bigalke said. "Their confidence has made it possible to once again place Linn's in collectors' mailboxes each week."

Scott Stamp LLC also encourages collectors to support the advertisers featured in Linn's Stamp News. Their investment in the publication helps sustain independent philatelic journalism and strengthens the hobby as a whole.

About Linn's Stamp News
Founded in 1928, Linn's Stamp News has served generations of collectors with timely reporting, expert editorial coverage, market analysis, new issue reporting, auction news, and hobby features. The publication returns to weekly print publication beginning with the October 5, 2026, issue while continuing to expand its digital offerings.
